ISO22000 Food Safety

On August 12, 2009, Sinodis has been certified as conforming to the requirements of ISO 22000:2005. A clear reinforcement of Sinodis' long-term committment to a reliable supply chain, the ISO 22000 initiative is entirely coordinated by Sinodis Quality Assurance team, which supervised the training and implementation of ISO's Food Safety management system, and is continuously ensuring compliance during daily operations.
With heightened food-safety awareness in China, Sinodis' ISO 22000 is yet another effort to provide reassurance to both its partners and consumers about the reliability of their favorite brands.

Sinodis and ISO
ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is the most famous international-standard-setting body. Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Switzerland, the organization of representatives from various national standard organizations promulgates worldwide proprietary industrial and commercial standards.
To provide maximum benefit for Sinodis partners and consequently for the company itself, Sinodis chose ISO 22000 standard to upgrade its food-safety management system, reinforcing the importance of the organization's role and position within the food chain, to ensure effective interactive communication at all stages in order to deliver safe food products to the final consumer. ISO 22000 is an industrial-specific risk management system for any type of food processing and marketing, more procedural-oriented than principle-based guidances such as ISO 9001.

ISO 22000 and HACCP
ISO 22000 integrates the principles of the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) system and application steps. By means of auditable requirements, it combines the HACCP plan with prerequisite programmes. Hazard analysis is the key to an effective food safety management system, to assist in organizing the knowledge required to establish an effective combination of control measures.
ISO 22000 requires that all hazards that may be reasonably expected to occur in the food chain are identified and assessed, therefore providing the means to determine and document why certain identified hazards need to be controlled by a particular organization and why others need not.
During hazard analysis, the organization determines the strategy to be used to ensure hazard control by combining the prerequisite programmes and the HACCP plan.

Intertek and SWEDAK
As ISO's certifying body Sinodis selected Intertek, the world's largest independent testing, inspection and certification partner. Moreover, Sinodis' ISO 22000 is also accredited by SWEDAC, the Swedish Board for Accreditation and Conformity Assessment, a public authority under the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. SWEDAC's accreditation, which involves determination of the competence of organisations to perform their duties or work, covers laboratories, certification bodies, and inspection bodies concerned with analysis, testing, calibration, certification and inspection.
