Changing Cities… and Changing Tastes for Good Food
I am 100% Shanghainese, and I love this city in which I grew up. I still remember the small streets and lane houses of my childhood which have been replaced now by big buildings. Due to a fast growing economy, all our lives have changed a lot…as have our tastes for different food
I joined Sinodis in 2001 when it was a small company, and I was in charge of sales of the east region with only 5 people in my sales team. In the past few years I have seen consumption of imported Western foods continually increase as more and more local people are willing to accept and enjoy western foods and culture in their life. From using imported milk on a daily basis, to trying imported cheese and cream, and switching from Chinese noodles to Italian pasta every now and then. All these changes have been driven by finding our imported food on restaurant menus and supermarket shelves. Currently I am in charge of the retail business unit, and we have been working with most retailers all over China to provide high quality good food to their customers. My hope is that in the near future, Chinese consumers in many cities in China can easily purchase our imported foods in their city’s supermarket.
